1. Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) showed that the brain’s response to pain was reduced by 40-50% in 12 long-term practitioners of TM compared to controls. A similar reduction in reactivity to pain was observed in the controls 5 months after they learnt TM (Neuroreport 2006; 17(12):1359-63).
2. Patients with chronic pain reported improvement after 3 sessions of Maharishi Vedic Vibration Technology(MVVT), including 51.25% improvement with neck pain, 36.32% with back pain and 35.83% with headaches. Frontiers in Bioscience 2001; 6:H1-6 (see “other chronic disorders” below).
3. Natural headache treatment: 35 of 41 patients suffering chronic headache, unresponsive to conventional therapy, showed significant improvement over a three month period using a multimodality MVHC treatment program (see “Other chronic disorders” below). Nederlands Tijdschrift voor Integrale Geneeskunde 1989; 5(35): 58-94.
4. A controlled study of 30 patients (15 in the TM group and 15 in the control group) showed that the TM group showed significantly lower distress with pain than controls. Psychosomatic Medicine 1981; 43(2):157-164.
